We started working with Northern Tea Merchants way back in 2012, and what a pleasure it has been collaborating with this fellow Chesterfield Champion ever since.
Back then SEO was attracting lots of attention for all the wrong reasons – black hat SEO was rife and search engines were being cheated. As we came on board with Northern Tea, our first job was write the copy for the new website they had been developing. We made sure that the content we produced for them was top quality, relevant, and search engine optimised for the long haul – not just whilst black hat tricks were keeping some businesses atop for the short term.
Once we had the website full of great content up and running, we set to creating a monthly newsletter to drive traffic to the website and shout about the fantastic things Northern Tea have to share in their blogs. You wouldn’t expect your local Tea and Coffee Merchants to visit half of the exotic places that they do on business – it’s a real insight.
Award entry writing is something that we focused on with Northern Tea Merchants. As a local business that has roots dating back to 1926 which is now an international supplier of all things tea and coffee, they’re not short of things to shout about. We’ve written their award entries since we’ve been working with them and are pleased to have helped them scoop an array of accolades. This includes their triple award win at the 2015 Derbyshire Times Business Awards where they scooped Retailer of the Year, James Pogson was awarded the Lifetime Achievement award AND they went on to win Business of the Year.
In 2016 we launched the Northern Tea Merchants privilege card holder scheme. This scheme saw them double their email database in just two months and has since resulted in a 500% increase opted-in email subscribers which has really helped the business to encourage more frequent repeat custom.
In 2018, the launch of a sleek, exciting new website has been a huge part of our work with Northern Tea Merchants. Taking all of the content from the previous website, re-optimising and tweaking, arranging photoshoots and collating high quality images for use, and putting together a website that really works for them and their retail customers was quite the project. Add into the mix the fact that we also project managed and wrote the content for a new part of the website specifically aimed at trade customers (not previously explored with their old website) and it was mammoth. But, it is exactly what the client wants and needs, and we were proud to be able to deliver that.
It’s been a whirlwind six years and we’ve loved every minute so far. We can’t wait to see what comes next for Northern Tea Merchants and are excited as always to be a part of it.
