We started working with PK Education in 2014 and what a journey it has been. It’s given us the opportunity to bring so many of our capabilities together – media relations, social media and website management, film production and event management.
Between 2014 and 2018, we have seen staff numbers at PK Education double, offices increase from four to seven, and a complete rebrand launched.
The brand, which was designed by Sheffield based agency Moors Creative, encompassed a new logo and website for the supply teacher agency; really setting them apart from the competition in what is a very competitive market.
2016 was a formative year for PK Education. It not only saw the launch of a bold new brand, but also the company’s first ever staff awards.
We’ve had so much fun organising these annual awards each year, each one a different theme:
2016 – Back to Basics
In keeping with the theme, we took PK back to basics and hosted the awards and daytime team building events at the fabulous YHA Castleton in the glorious Peak District. Utilising the 27-acres of grounds at the Youth Hostel, we organised team building events during the day before hosting a Back to the Future themed award ceremony in the evening. We transformed the youth hostel’s private dining room into the Enchantment Under the Sea dance scene from the iconic film. A stage with a glitter curtain backdrop, banner and lectern was the focal point of the room, while an original 1950s juke box took centre stage and provided the entertainment.
2017 – Above and Beyond
Held at the National Space Centre, PK’s 2017 awards could only have a space theme and we took our inspiration from the iconic film 2001: A Space Odyssey. Our shopping list in the weeks running up to the event included glow sticks, space dust and flying saucers!
On the day, we stranded half the team in space while the other half, in mission control, rescued them as part of the team building activities. That evening we kicked off with a couple of Storm Troopers and a smoking cocktail to welcome the team. Needless to say, the award ceremony was out of this world, topped off by a surprise live appearance by a fantastic Daft Punk tribute act.
2018 – Everybody’s a Star
Liverpool called for this year’s awards. And we went music themed, staying in the Beatles Hard Days Night hotel and shipping the PK team off to Cover Stars to record a family-themed track or two. The videos are definitely worth a watch!
Our shopping list this year included inflatable guitars and microphones, more glow sticks and novelty sunglasses and moustaches. Never has online shopping been more satisfying and the daily deliveries from Amazon kept us entertained for weeks. We even persuaded Imogen to model some of the sunglasses!
The awards are also a rare opportunity for all the offices to come together, so we’ve used this get some great film material. Working with Defeye Creative we’ve produced a series of Vox Pops that we use across PK’s social media channels to attract new staff and candidates to this exciting company.
PK Education has successfully grown to now having seven offices covering six regions across England. We have had a great time supporting that growth and are always excited to see what is next on the PK agenda.
There’s no rest for the wicked though – we’re already planning for next year, and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever. All will be revealed on 13 July 2019.
